One of the oldest neighbourhoods in Rome, Trastevere was a predominantly working class district until the 1960s, when the middle and upper classes moved in. Today both tourists and Romans enjoy the vibrant nightlife in the local bars and restaurants.
This cosmopolitan neighbourhood is home to a large American community, as well as many Europeans (primarily German and French). Though it has become very trendy, the neighbourhood’s narrow streets still offer a glimpse of the old world.
The apartment itself is situated on one such lane. Piazza San Cosimato is lined with charming restaurants and shops and is within walking distance of the church of Santa Maria in Trastevere (5 minutes) and the Villa Farnesina (15 minutes). Piazza Farnese is just on the other side of the Ponte Sisto pedestrian bridge.
The apartment
This well laid out and spacious, third-floor, elevator-accessible apartment (51.7 m²) has large rooms with high ceilings. The pale parquet flooring gives the apartment a very cosy feel.
The entrance (7 m²), which leads directly to the living room, has a coat rack and a mirror.
The living room (25.8 m² - south facing) serves as a both a den and a dining room and receives a lot of natural light through two big windows overlooking the street. The room contains a double sofa-bed (with removable cover and two separate mattresses), a couple of armchairs, two praying chairs, a table, and four chairs.
There is a kitchenette in the living room, which is fully equipped with all the modern conveniences (gas stove, electric oven, and fridge).
The bedroom (14 m² - south facing) has a large window that looks out onto the street and is furnished with a double bed, a cabinet, two bedside tables, a wardrobe, a dresser, and a chair.
The bathroom (4.9 m²) adjoins the living room and is fitted with a sink, shower, bidet, and toilet.

Notes
As there are many restaurants in the area, the apartment can be a little noisy in the evenings, especially in the summer when the widows are open.
