The neighbourhood and surroundings (See on Google Maps)
The Oltrarno—which means “on the other side of the Arno”—is the quintessential Florentine district. Here, Florence’s magnificent history is omnipresent—not only has it been safeguarded in the many historic and artistic relics (notably, Piazzale Michelangelo and the Boboli Gardens) but it lives on in boutiques and shops that have preserved the area’s vernacular architecture and in the artisans, jewellers, and restaurateurs who carry on age-old traditions.
In the Oltrarno’s maze of tiny streets, you can get a true taste of Renaissance living.
Its central location makes it easy to get around the city quickly. The Ponte Vecchio and the Boboli Gardens are less than a 10-minute walk away, not to mention Piazzale Michelangelo where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city. You are also less than a 10-minute walk from the Duomo via the Ponte Vecchio, which will take you to the other side of Florence.
The apartment
This spacious third-floor apartment (60 m2) with no elevator access has a magnificent view of the city's ancient ramparts. The layout, terra cotta floors, and tasteful furnishings lend charm to the apartment.
A separate entrance (12 m² - south facing) with a window overlooking the yard also serves as a dining room and has a glass-top table, four chairs, a storage unit, and a radio.
A hallway (5 m² - east facing) with a window overlooking the yard runs from the entrance to the bedroom.
The living room (23 m² - north facing) faces the street and has a trundle sofa-bed, a small table, two lamps, and a buffet.
The bedroom (18 m² - south facing) is quite large and overlooks the yard and the city's ancient ramparts. The room contains two single beds, a bedside table, a closet, and a dresser.
The kitchen (6.5 m² - north facing) opens onto the yard and has all the cooking and eating utensils you’ll need, a mini-oven, a fridge, a gas stove, and a wrought iron table and chairs.
There is a small bathroom (4 m² - east facing) with a small window overlooking the yard. It is fitted with a shower, sink, and toilet.
