The medieval hamlet of Lugnano in Teverina is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Italy. Situated in the Province of Terni in southern Umbria, some hundred kilometres from Rome, Lugnano in Teverina is not far from the art towns of Todi, Spoleto, and Orvieto.
At an altitude of 450 m, the hamlet sits on the slopes of the Tibre Valley amid forests and olive groves.
A magnificent 13th-century collegiate church stands inside the village walls. The Convent of San Francesco was constructed at the foot of Lugnano in Teverina, at the site of the miracle of St. Francis. San Francesco, one of the first Franciscan convents, was built in 1228 and later restored in the 1970/80s.
Il Ciliegio is one of four apartments in the Convent of San Francesco that are available through Loc’appart. The monks' cells were converted into apartments and fitted with all the modern comforts, though great care has been taken to conserve their original charm.
The convent is surrounded by a large garden with a pool and a tennis court, and affords a beautiful view of the surrounding hills.
The apartment
Il Ciliegio is a cleverly laid out two-floor apartment (50 m²) that has recently been renovated.
The front hall leads to the living room (with fireplace), and the kitchenette, bedroom, and bathroom.
The living room is longer than it is wide, and a sofa, table, and chairs are set up around the fireplace. The living room window overlooks the garden.
The kitchenette is fully equipped with an oven, microwave, gas burners, a recessed fridge, and storage space.
The first bedroom has two twin beds, bedside tables, reading lamps, and a wardrobe. The bedroom window overlooks the garden.
The bathroom has a shower, toilet, and a towel warmer.
Upstairs, the charming double bedroom with sloping ceiling has an air conditioner for the summer months. The height of the bedroom ceiling declines from 1.80 m to 1.20 m.

Notes
The front gate and parking lot are remote controlled.
The pool is open with an on-duty lifeguard (as required by Italian law) from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in July and August only. The pool is also open on the weekends of June 12, 19, and 26 and of September 4, 11, and 18.
The tennis court is always open.
No pets allowed.
