The Oltrarno—which means “on the other side of the Arno”—is the quintessential Florentine district. Here, Florence’s magnificent history is omnipresent—not only has it been safeguarded in the many historic and artistic relics (notably, Piazzale Michelangelo and the Boboli Gardens) but it lives on in boutiques and shops that have preserved the area’s vernacular architecture and in the artisans, jewellers, and restaurateurs who carry on age-old traditions.
In the Oltrarno’s maze of tiny streets, you can get a true taste of Renaissance living.
Its central location makes it easy to get around the city. The Pitti Palace, the Boboli Gardens, and one of the most beautiful squares in all of Florence, Piazza del Carmine, are less than a 10-minute walk away.
The apartment
Terra cotta floors, exposed ceiling beams, and wooden furniture add to the authenticity of this typically Florentine and spacious ground-floor apartment (50 m²).
The entrance (4 m²), complete with a hat stand, a mirror, and an armoire, leads to the living room.
The living room (25 m² - south facing) faces the alley and has a sofa-bed, a coffee table, two armchairs, and a dresser. The dining area has a wooden table and chairs.
The yard-facing kitchen (4 m² - east facing) opens onto the living room, is fully equipped with all the modern conveniences (microwave, refrigerator, gas stove, and dishwasher), and has all the cooking and eating utensils you’ll need.
The bedroom (13.5 m² - south facing) faces the alley and is furnished with a double bed, two bedside tables, a closet, a small desk, and a chair.
The bathroom (3.5 m² - west facing) also faces the alley and is fitted with a shower, a sink, and a toilet.
