Ostiense is on the left bank of the Tiber in southern Testaccio and runs along both sides of Via Ostiense all the way to St. Paul's Outside the Walls. Testaccio’s daily market, traditional restaurants, and night clubs keep the neighbourhood bustling day and night.
There are lots of public transport options nearby (Metro Line B, the Ostiense and Roma Ostia Lido train stations, as well as several bus lines, including the 23 that takes a scenic route along the Tiber).
The apartment itself is in a historic building on a small and quiet street.
The archaeological district (the Baths of Caracalla, the Colosseum, and the Circus Maximus) are a 20-minute walk away, while Caius Cestius' Pyramid and the Protestant Cemetery are mere metres away. The Montemartini power plant, which now houses a collection of ancient sculptures from the Capitoline Museum against a backdrop of machinery, is only a 15-minute walk away.
The apartment
This third-floor apartment (31.5 m²) is quiet and bright. There is no elevator in the building. The apartment overlooks a private yard, from where you can see Rome's ancient walls. The pale parquet flooring gives the apartment a very cosy feel.
The apartment is made up of a gorgeous living room painted in light colours (14 m² - north facing). It has a view of the yard and is furnished with a sofa-bed, a commode, and a bookcase.
The American-style kitchen (5.5 m² - north facing) overlooks the yard and has a breakfast bar for a table with four chairs around it. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the modern conveniences (gas stove/oven and fridge) and all the cooking and eating utensils you'll need.
The bedroom (8 m² - north facing) also overlooks the yard and is furnished with a double bed, a pair of bedside tables, a closet, a wardrobe, and a dresser.
The bathroom (3.9 m² - north facing) has a view of the yard and is fitted with a shower, sink, bidet, and toilet.
